Can You Make a Link with Horticulture and Crime?

In a Tuesday, December 22, 2009 blog posting titled Plant Sex and Pollen, I talked about the beauty of pollen grains.  Apparently, their beauty may help solve crimes in the future.

In a British newspaper, The Guardian, there was an interesting article titled Forensics: Bullets tagged with pollen could help solve gun crimesThe article goes on to state "Pollen could be used to identify the perpetrators of gun crimes, thanks to developments in nanotechnology. The microscopic grains can be coated onto bullets during manufacture and are sticky enough to hold on even after the gun has been fired. Each 'nanotag' is made up of pollen and a unique chemical signature that can be used to identify the batch of ammunition."
